Advocacy |

Serves as the ASIA liaison with other organizations related to SCI and rehabilitation, with specific regard to providing a united front to promote or oppose legislation that might affect the population of SCI individuals and/or clinicians and researchers. Promotes membership in ASIA among members of similar organizations. Fosters increased knowledge among other SCI organizations of the mission of ASIA. |

Awards/Sell |
|
Recommends nominees for the annual G. Heiner Sell Lectureship and the ASIA Lifetime Achievement Award. Reviews the selection/award processes and recommends improvements where indicated. Develops plans for new awards as warranted. |

Bylaws |
|
This is an ad hoc committee. Reviews bylaws as requested by the ASIA Board of Directors and recommends changes as indicated. |

Directors' Nominating |
|
Nominates new Board members as needed, and recommends officer appointments from the slate of serving Board members for approval by the Board of Directors. |
|
FOSA/COMSS |
|
This is an advisory committee to the Board of Directors. Serves as the liaison with the Specialty Societies of the AAOS, and fosters a continuous exchange of current information among all parties involved. |

Journal |
|
Conducts periodic reviews of the relationship between ASIA and its preferred journal, the "Journal of Spinal Cord Medicine" (JSCM). Apprises the Board of its recommendations for improvement as indicated. Considers potential relationships between ASIA and other journals in the event that the current arrangement with JSCM is no longer beneficial to ASIA and its members. |

Membership |

Assists in the development and implementation of ASIA’s membership recruitment and retention strategies. Reviews applications for membership, and makes recommendations to the Board to accept or decline. Takes an active role in recruitment of new members, with a goal of personally recruiting a minimum of three colleagues per year to ASIA membership. |

Program |
|
Develops the scientific program for the annual meeting. Reviews each annual program retrospectively, making recommendations for improvements as indicated.
Provides direction about associated programs (to include the annual precourse). With executive management, provides input into the site selection and hotel selection process. Implements CME and CEU processes associated with the annual meeting. Recommends continuous innovation in methods of delivery of educational content at the annual meeting. |

Research |
|
Conducts peer review of projects submitted for funding through ASIA grant opportunities. Conducts the annual Call for Nominations for ASIA Research Awards. Recommends award recipients for approval by the Board of Directors. |

Spine |
|
Involves the community of spine surgeons in the work of ASIA, with particular emphasis on participation in the annual scientific meeting. Encourages new spine surgeon membership. Maintains a high level of participation among spine surgeons who are active members of ASIA. |

Standards |
|
Oversees the development of new standards documents related to SCI. Continuously reviews and improves the existing ASIA documents on neurological and autonomic standards. This committee has three component subcommittees:
