2009 Introduction

AMERICAN SPINAL INJURY ASSOCIATION AND UNITED SPINAL ASSOCIATION WILL COMBINE ANNUAL MEETINGS IN 2009—"CONGRESS ON SPINAL CORD MEDICINE AND REHABILITATION" TO BE HELD IN SEPTEMBER

The American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) and the United Spinal Association (USA) will join forces in 2009 to present "Congress on Spinal Cord Medicine and Rehabilitation." The congress will be held from September 22-26, in Dallas, Texas. The host hotel is the Adam's Mark Dallas, which will be reflagged as the Sheraton Dallas by mid-2008.

USA consists of the American Paraplegia Society (APS), the American Association of Spinal Cord Injury Nurses (AASCIN), and the American Association of Spinal Cord Injury Psychologists and Social Workers (AASCIPSW). Educational tracks will be incorporated into the scientific program to appeal to members of all four groups. Attendance is expected to be approximately 750.

Lesley M. Hudson, MA, Executive Director of ASIA, and Paul Tobin, President and CEO of USA, have been working together with their respective staffs to formulate plans for this exciting congress. The opportunity to bring together attendees connected with these important professional SCI organizations has generated significant enthusiasm in the field. The call for abstracts and course proposals will be issued this summer, with a submission date anticipated in late October.

Mark your calendars NOW and plan to participate in this important congress. Watch the ASIA web site (www.asia-spinalinjury.org) and the USA web site (www.unitedspinal.org) for additional details in the next few months.
