Position: Full-Time Biostatistician

Under direction of the Department Director, leads all statistical analysis and research design functions for assigned clinical trials and rehabilitation research. Handles multiple competing projects and deadlines, and coordinates all the statistical needs of each clinical trial/project. Performs intermediate and advanced statistical analysis and programming while ensuring thorough dissemination of research findings through presentations, meetings and publications.

Requirements:
Education - Doctorate in statistics, biostatistics, or similar field required.
Experience
   - Statistical and methodological experience in clinical research.
   - Experience in rehabilitation and disability research highly preferred.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Leads all statistical analysis and research design functions for clinical trials and rehabilitation research.
  2. Maintains the statistical integrity of clinical trials and collaborative research
  3. Leads statistical support for the TBI National Data and Statistical Center, providing support to not only center staff, but also the TBI Model System module and collaborative research projects, and to those using the TBI National Database in research.
  4. Provides statistical and methodological consultation to Research Department staff and research projects in all phases of design and implementation.
  5. Functions as an independent research investigator and consults on all research projects in the areas of research design, measurement, analysis, and methodology.
  6. Prepares the analysis and sample size determination sections of research proposals, advises on research methodology, oversees the analysis of research data, and reviews the methodology sections of research manuscripts.
  7. Supports a portfolio of research projects, including seeking funding through preparation of research proposals, managing all aspects of those projects, and disseminating research findings through presentations at national and international scientific meetings and publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  8. Learns new statistical techniques as needed and applies new skills to future projects.
  9. Mentors research staff in learning research design, measurement evaluation and development, analytic techniques, and writing research proposals and manuscripts.
  10. Generally responsible for elevating the rigor of research methods and analyses at Craig Hospital.
  11. Explores/tracks various sources for grant funding.
  12. Leads staff or projects and makes assignments necessary to conduct the research agenda.

CNS Medical Group, P.C., affiliated with Craig Hospital in Denver, Colorado is currently seeking a full-time BC/BE SCI rehabilitation specialist to join our practice in approximately January 2009, with recruitment beginning now. The group is an eight physician practice specializing in neurotrauma rehabilitation. Craig Hospital is an internationally recognized SCI and TBI Model Systems center located just south of beautiful Denver, Colorado. The ideal candidate will have an interest in clinically managing a busy inpatient SCI service, with some ongoing outpatient responsibilities as well. Craig Hospital has a commitment to clinical research in SCI with the ability to provide significant support for potential growth in this area, as well. Team leadership, clinical judgment, and interpersonal skills are highly desirable characteristics in a future partner.
